The Salmon River Noxious Weed Control Project
The WWA participates each spring in weed control efforts within the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness as part of a cooperative effort with the U.S. Forest Service, the Idaho Department of Agriculture, and private property owners. The WWA provides logistical support, technical assistance, and manual labor in an active assault on noxious weeds along the Salmon River corridor. WWA members operating their private jetboats provide manpower and transport for the project.
This project requires a significant amount of physical labor for participants, as the weed control methods primarily entail hand application of chemical sprays and hand pulling. Much of the work takes place on steep terrain and participating members are generally in the field for 3 to 4 days.
